Application for PIE auditors

Under the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council Ordinance (Cap. 588), the AFRC is responsible for the following registration functions:

• Issuance of Practising Certificates

• Registration of Firm Names and Firms

• Registration of Corporate Practices

• Registration of local auditors as public interest entity (PlE) auditors

• Recognition of overseas auditors as PlE auditors

Policy, Registration and Oversight Department is being delegated with these responsibilities.

Issuance of Practising certificates

A CPA intending to perform statutory audits in Hong Kong is required to obtain a practising certificate from the AFRC.

Recognition of Overseas Auditors as PlE Auditors

An overseas auditorintending to undertake (i.e.accept an appointment for carrying out) or carry out any PlEengagement for an overseas entity,is requireo to be recognized as a recognized PlE auditor.
